Media Options:| Filox Filox is both our most popular and our most powerful media option. It is capable of removing high levels of iron, manganese, and hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg odor). It is extremely long-lasting since it is a solid media (not coated). It can last almost indefinitely if backwashed properly. Since it is such a powerful catalyst, smaller systems can generally be used to achieve the same treatment goals, and it performs better than other media in the removal of stubborn manganese. Filox is very resistent to oxidizers.

| Katalox-Light Katalox-Light media is a powerful, yet affordable option for the removal of moderate to high levels of iron as well as hydrogen sulfide (H2S) which causes a distinct rotten egg odor. Katalox-Light will also remove moderate levels of manganese under the right operating conditions. Due to its light weight which allows for lower backwash flow rates, this media option is well suited to low yield wells or other applications where water conservation is desired.

| BIRM BIRM is a very affordable and light weight media used primarily for the removal of low to moderate levels of iron particularly when manganese and hydrogen sulfide are NOT present.

| CENTAUR Catalytic Carbon CENTAUR Catalytic carbon media is a very affordable media used primarily for the removal of low to moderate levels of hydrogen sulfide which causes a characteristic rotten egg or sulfur smell. It is also capable of the concurrent removal of low levels of iron, and is particularly effective at also removing trace levels of organics that can cause bad tastes and odors.

* Generally, models with Filox media are preferred for all applications desiring manganese removal. Where BIRM is used for manganese reduction, pH must be between 8.0 and 8.5. Hydrogen sulfide will damage the media in BIRM models. Do not use these models if hydrogen sulfide is present. Catalytic carbon models are not recommended for manganese removal.
